Just 10km from the city centre and only 117 sq km in size, this is Kenya’s oldest park. Established around 1946, it’s a real contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city - it's the only national park on earth that borders a capital city With over 500 varieties of birds recorded and more than 100 mammal species, it makes a great early morning or afternoon’s game drive. Common sightings include zebra, giraffe, buffalo, ostrich, gazelle, eland, hippo, vulture and lion. It is also a great place to see black rhino.

    I honestly did not expect to see so much wildlife within a stone throw of the city. A lion walked right past our jeep, and a white rhino was grazing 2 meters from the path. Incredible!! Special thanks to my tour guide/driver, Cyrus. He was extremely knowledgeable, accomodating, and friendly.
