Rome is rich in history and architecture which is visible throughout the city. During this tour you will visit two of Rome's most popular sights: the Vatican and the Colosseum!

About the tour

The first part of the tour is a visit to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine. Discover how the Colosseum was a stage for gladiator fights, public executions, animal hunts, but also less bloody performances by acrobats and magicians. Next, your guide will lead you on a short walk to the Roman Forum, the center of Roman public life. Walk around and visualize how Roman life was and how the current ruins would have appeared thousands of years ago. Finally you walk to the Palatine, a hill with relics of the palaces and temples of the emperors who once lived there. From one side you have a view of the adjacent Roman Forum, where the 'ordinary' people lived, and from the other side you can admire the Circus Maximus, an ancient Roman chariot stadium and mass entertainment venue. 

In the afternoon you will meet your guide at the Vatican. You start the afternoon by exploring the incredible galleries, such as the Candelabra Gallery, where you can see the magnificent collection of Roman sculptures, the Tapeatry Gallery and the Gallery of Maps. Off course you can also admire the breathtaking Sistine Chapel, the masterpiece of Michelangelo. Finally you enter the St. Peter's Basilica via a special entrance that is only used for tours like this one.

Important information

  • Availability: the tour is available every day of the year except for Sundays and public/vatican holidays
  • Departure time: the first part of the tour starts at 10:30 AM. The second part of the tour starts at 3:30 PM
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • Language: English and German
  • There is a special price for students under the age of 26 with a valid student ID and for children aged 6 to 17 with a valid ID. Children under the age of 6 get free entrance
  • All clients will be asked to show a photo ID, you must bring a photo ID to be allowed into the monument. You may be denied entry to the monument without one
  • There is a strict dress code for the Vatican: knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women. If you fail to comply with these requirements, you may be denied entry
  • Lunch is not included
  • Make sure to be present at the meeting point 15 minutes prior to the chosen entry time
  • Colosseum meeting point: Via di San Giovanni in Laterano n.14 (Metro "Colosseo", Line B)
  • Vatican meeting point: Via Germanico n.16, (Metro "Ottaviano", Line A).
