Gripsholm Castle was our first stop—and wow, it’s like stepping into a fairytale. The castle itself is stunning, perched right by Lake Mälaren, and filled with centuries of royal history. The portraits gallery was fascinating, and Anna’s stories about the Swedish royals made everything come alive. We had time to stroll around the grounds too, which were just breathtaking.
Afterward, we headed to the quaint little town of Mariefred, which was such a hidden gem. I loved walking its cobbled streets, browsing the tiny local shops, and grabbing a fika (Swedish coffee break!) with a cinnamon bun in a cozy café by the water. It was the perfect touch of authentic Swedish life.
The final stop was Drottningholm Palace, and it truly felt like saving the crown jewel for last. The palace is grand and elegant but also feels very "lived in" compared to some other European castles. The gardens were dreamy, and we even spotted a few swans gliding by the lake. I appreciated how Anna gave us the flexibility to explore at our own pace while always being nearby with interesting insights.
This tour was worth every krona for the comfort, depth, and personal touch. Whether you're solo, with friends, or a couple, I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to experience Sweden's royal side, small-town charm, and natural beauty all in one amazing day. Just don’t forget comfy shoes and your camera you’ll use both a lot!
