Picked up by a van & driver, with our tour guide Camilo, for a private tour. Didn't realize the majority of our day would be in the car, largely due to the horrible traffic in Guatemala City.
The drive to Antigua was interesting, and our driver made a suggested change in route to provide us with an overview of Antigua before driving down into the town. Upon arrival we enjoyed a walking tour of this picturesque town. However, there were way too many tourists and we didn't feel like we were experiencing the culture.
Our guide dropped us off at a Cafe for lunch. The tour said it was to include lunch, but we were left to cover it ourselves. Had we known we were buying our own lunch we would have requested to be taken to a place that offers Guatemalan food.
After lunch we headed back to Guatemala City -- no time to wander around the square, shops, etc. Back in G.C. the traffic was again horrendous and getting from "point of interest" to "point of interest" was a slog.
Our guide arranged the afternoon so that he could be dropped off at his house before our driver took us back to our hotel.
Overall we were pleased that this tour got us an overview of Antigua and Guatemala City. The van and driver were good. The guide was not as full of knowledge nor as enthusiastic about the culture as we had from our other tour with Guat2Do (to Lake Atitlan). But now we've "been there, done that" and won't go back.
