My wife and I traveled with Joel - a wonderful and very funny guide with an amazing amount of knowledge of not just the history of the towns surrounding Bogotá but also their people’s place in the past, present and possible future and their relationships with the country as a whole. We visited three beautiful towns with very distinct identities - Zipaquirá (known for their mining and cultivation of salt, which also resulted in the building of the magnificent Catedrál del Sal), Tabio (known for intricate stone masonry, which is representative all over the town from the roads to the buildings) and Cajicá (known for a vibrant downtown and eclectic cafes).
Thank you again, Joel, for a beautiful introduction to some of your country’s small towns - we wish you the best in your anthropological endeavors!
