A friend went today and walked up the stairs to the top of the Cathedral.
Her legs became very painful and she asked one of the staff if she could use the staff lift to go down. He refused. There seems to be a fault in the training of staff and he might have felt he was not allowed to be kind in this situation.
Our friend had to come down very slowly in pain, stopping every 10 steps to sit down. Luckily she had some painkillers with her which she could take when she finally got down and had a chance to sit properly.
She is a visitor to the UK and did not want to raise a complaint.
The refusal to us the lift in this situation was surprising and most un-Christian.
