Watch live demonstrations of craftsmen at work, including a clog maker crafting the famous wooden shoes of the Netherlands See how the world-famous Dutch cheese is made and, of course, to taste it in a cheese farm. There will be some free time to explore the village on your own, before traveling back to Amsterdam.

It was interesting to see the Keukenhof Gardens although the tulips were almost over in early May. The windmills in Zaanseshan were interesting but extremely touristy and packed with people. Verlanden was a pretty lakeside town and nice for lunch. Our guide did not provide any background or interesting information on the places we visited. He was just a chauffer, but he was punctual and reliable. I think it would be good to have more of an informational tour considering we were riding in a car for a long time over the course of the day.

We absolutely loved our trip to tulips and the side trips especially to Violendam. The only criticism was it wasn’t made clear on tickets where exactly we were to meet at This is Holland. We didn’t know what or who to look for at the very busy tour terminal. Our driver was lovely and kind but not informative as we drove to and from our stops. Great tour but lacking in information.

A big disappointment. We have used Viator many times with good results. This trip was the worst. First off, I will say that Kueknhoff was beautiful. The tulips were spectacular. It started off bad when we walked 30 minutes from our hotel, in the rain, to the pickup point . We were delayed 45 minutes waiting for another group. They then drove us back to our hotel to pick up the other group. This wasted an hour that we could have been seeing tulips. We did not have a guide merely a driver who did not talk or give any commentary while driving. He simply dumped us off at location and gave a pickup time. For $260 per person, we expected a guided tour not just a taxi driver
