Although there are various historical landmarks in Armenia, the oldest and most well-known is probably the Biblical Mount Ararat. A place that can’t be missed whilst in Armenia is Tatev Monastery, which once was the educational and spiritual center of Armenia. It’s built on a high plateau in the Vorotan river gorge, and is surrounded by breathtaking mountains and dense forests. You can reach here riding the world’s longest cableway Wings of Tatev.

  • Khor Virap, Lusarat, Armenia
    The Khor Virap monastery is located about an hour’s drive away from the capital Yerevan, and offers an amazing view of Armenia’s defining symbol – the majestic Ararat. “Khor Virap” translates as “deep dungeon”, and was built of the place of the former royal prison, located on the historical site of Artashat. It was this very prison in which they kept Gregory the Illuminator, the first Armenian Catholicos, for a whole 13 years. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that this place is one of the most sacred spots for Armenians around the world. Likewise, it’s also the closest point to the Mount Ararat from Armenia; very often this spot becomes the number 1 reason to visit our country!

  • T'rchuneri (Bird) Cave, Areni, Armenia
    The tour will take you to the Bird’s Cave. In 2008, archeologists discovered several of the world’s oldest artifacts, including a leather shoe and a winery. The site, overlooking Arpa River near the town of Areni, is claimed to date mostly to the Early Bronze Age (around 5,000-6,000 years ago). It also contains evidence of elaborate burial rituals and agricultural practices.

  • Noravank Monastery, Areni, Armenia
    Aside from Khor Virap, another place that can’t be missed is Noravank. It is one of the gems of medieval Armenian architecture, nestled high among the stunning brick-red cliffs in the end of the Gnishik Canyon. Here you will see the one and only depiction of God the Father in Armenia, which is just as astonishing as the face of Jesus Christ that appeared on the dome of the Church’s narthex. Built by Orbelian noblemen, it stands out among our churches as the sepulcher of this noble family, making it unique since it was absolutely prohibited to bury people inside a church since the 5th century.

  • Wings of Tatev, Halidzor, Armenia
    The longest cable-way in the world (approx. 6 km), which was registered in the Guinness book of records in 2010. During your ride, you will enjoy a spectacular view over one of the most beautiful spots in Armenia (if not in the world).

    What concerns the “finishing touch” to this tour, you will be given a chance to taste and even purchase Armenia’s renowned Areni wine. Made from the oldest grape variety in the whole world, the wine is available in several wineries in the actual town of Areni itself, which we will make a stop at before finishing the trip.

We did a full day private tour to Khor Virap , Noravank , Tatev Cable car and the winery . Our driver Morat and our guide Anna arrived on time and took us to a journey which turned out to be really memorable and enjoyable! Anna was one of the most informative guides that we have come across with excellent command on English . What was good was that she enjoyed her job and made sure that tourists got the best picture of Armenia ! Infact the information she gave us also helped us the next day while on our tour to Gharni . We had an excellent lunch with free Vodka courtesy our hosts ! All in all would highly recommend Yerani travels and Anna ( she is simply superb !!!)

We had a 3 day personalised tour with Yerani Travel. Communication before the tour was always very timely and professional. There were a couple of issues (e.g. driver arriving one hour late on the first day), but Yerani always dealt with them professionally and they always tried to meet our requests. Drivers did not speak English (not even some basic words) but they were very helpful and we felt safe with them on the road.

С подругами заказали индивидуальный тур по главным достопримечательностям Армении и остались в восторге! Поездка была очень комфортной: в машине для нас заранее приготовили воду, обеспечили wi-fi, а также bluetooth-соединением для того, чтобы мы могли слушать любимую музыку со смартфона. Во время остановок по маршруту мы успевали все посмотреть и везде сфотографироваться,и нам, кстати, заранее купили билеты на "Крылья Татева", чтобы мы не стояли в очереди))) Поэтому хочется искренне поблагодарить всех сотрудников Yerani Travel за прекрасную организацию и помощь по всем вопросам. А еще сказать, что водитель Арсен - самый лучший!
