Gunung Batur in the Kintamani region of Bali is an iconic, extremely most active volcano that draws tourists in with both beauty and promise of adventure. Rising to 5,633 feet, Mount Batur can be submitted by physically-fit hikers in around two hours. Climbing Mount Batur offers a rare opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable sunrise from the top of an active volcano. The views of Bali from the top are stunning. Part of Mount Batur's massive caldera is filled by Danau Batur, Bali's largest crater lake. A smaller stratovolcano juts out of the water 2,300 feet and frequently reminds the local villages that they are situated on top of a geological time bomb. Excellent views of Mount Batur can be photographed from the nearby village of Penelokan in Kintamani. Other small villages and settlements established around the rim of Mount Batur offer great vantage points and opportunities to explore the surrounding area.

We booked the Mount Batur Sunrise Trek trip with Bali Bliss. For the trip we had Made as our driver, who was on time, friendly and very helpful! The car was comfortable and air conditioned and Made always informed us of the plan and what was happening throughout the night/day, as well as answering any questions we had about Bali. Bali Bliss don’t actually take you up the mountain that is a separate company, but Made was back at base camp once we had finished and then took us to a coffee plantation. This was a real hidden gem and had amazing views over a terrace. We were scheduled to go to the Tegalalang rice terrace on this tour but as we had been there before we asked to go back to our hotel; Made was so obliging and checked we didn’t want to go anywhere else to make up for it- but we were so tired by that point we were happy to go back to the hotel. Booking was very easy, my husband did it through e-mail and then communicated via whatsapp once we were in Bali. The trip was amazing value for money and we would highly recommend Bali Bliss. Thank you so much Made!
