The temple is old and was built in the second half of the 14th century during the reign of King U Thong. Interestingly, it is still active and monks live in it. The current name of the monastery was acquired at the end of the 16th century, when a large chedi was built. In the northeast, you can see a large statue of the Reclining Buddha wrapped in yellow cloth, facing east towards the rising sun. Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, like many other buildings in the area, was destroyed during the invasion in 1767. Great place and worth visiting.

Love our tour guide Cindy. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. The private tour was great for our group of 6. The ruins were amazing and highly recommended for a day trip.

Our tour guide Boy was great, very informative and helpful. The touring company organized pickup and drop-off from hotel. They used email as well as Whatsapp to coordinate. We visited 4 sites, received a complimentary bottle of water and ended the tour with a nice local lunch. Highly recommend.

Worst lunch ever, the place they took us to didn’t seem very hygienic and food was terrible I couldn’t even eat it - also there was a lot of mix ups and waiting. The tour itself was okay our guide only threw around a few dates and a very rehearsed “picture time” every five minutes. Overall could have been better for the price.
