Paul was a fantastic guide. He was recommended by the Fitzwilliam hotel where we stayed (also a great hotel) and he did not disappoint. He met my daughter and I Crumlin prison in his own car. Then spent some time talking with us about our interests and knowledge. I have had guided tours all over the world. We agreed Paul was the most personable, knowledgeable and gave the most poignant guided tour we have ever been on. Paul has personal experience with the troubles having grown up in the heart of it on Bombay street. He grew up Catholic, married a Protestant and has a unique and balance approach to sharing his experiences. We spent valuable time on both sides of the 'gates' and felt like we heard literally, both points of view. Balanced, factual and fascinating. His personal stories about family members who are literally chiseled into historical monuments gave a unique touch to the tour. Ask him about the the filming of the iconic "Troubles" song Zombie by the Cranberries. By complete happenstance, our tour was on one of the most famous days of the Troubles, August 15th. Paul had taken the day off out of respect for the memory, but said he had a feeling something special may happen. When his friend at the Fitzwilliam called to say we were in town only 1 day and he couldn't think of anyone better than Paul, he joined us straight away and even refused a well-deserved tip, saying it was a special day to honor and we had done him a favor. I cannot say enough about his knowledgeable and highly personal approach and if you have a chance, ASK FOR PAUL.
