We get to understand Birmingham through the public art all around us on the streets of this amazing city. We see the birthplace of Sr Edward-Burne-Jones and understand how important he was as a second wave pre-Raphaelite artist. You will be guided by author and photographer Jonathan Berg whose new book; 'Birmingham's Public Art' is published in November 2023. This tour is informative, friendly and great fun - a truly memorable experience

We booked 2 people on a Wednesday afternoon tour in November and it ended up being a private tour led by Johnathon. This was one of the best walking tours I've booked. As it was just the two of us, plus the guide, we had ample opportunity to ask questions and learn a great deal about the development of the city. Johnathon is a knowledgeable and accomplished local historian and author, and showed us various interesting sites with a lot of information about the development of each area over the decades. Emphasis on architecture and art on this tour. Particularly enjoyed him pointing out the modern architecture of New St. Station, the Bullring, and the public art in the surrounding squares. He also took us into St. Martin's church and the Birmingham cathedral and detailed the significance of the stained glass and development of the churches. At the end of the tour we were left with an abridged version of his book, "Positively Birmingham" which is filled with information, recommendations of things to do, and many vibrant and beautiful pictures. Has been a valuable resource and interesting reading on the train. Birmingham is absolutely a travel destination I will be returning to in the future, and I would recommend anyone who comes to Birmingham make an effort to attend one of these tours. 5/5, thanks for the fantastic tour and service.

As a Brummie born and bred I thought it was time to learn more about my home town. The tour was really interesting and I got a new insight into the city and the many buildings I pass on a regular basis having not known their history or significance. The tour guides Jonathan and Maria were friendly and helpful and Jonathan's commentary was really good and made the tour informative and fun.

This is a very interesting and informative tour that highlights various artistic and architectural details in the city. Makes you look at things with fresh eyes and realise how many riches there are in this great city! Jonathan is a great tour guide, his tour is full of interesting details. Highly recommended. Pace quite fast but great ear pieces mean you can still hear everything even if you’re not at the front.
