There are not enough adjectives to accurately describe how much fun this cave tour was. Firstly, it isn't the typical type of cave tour that usually immediately comes to mind. This is a down-and-dirty, crawling around, 6-year-old-you-dream type of cave adventure.
Initially, I was slightly nervous about this tour when my best friend suggested it, mainly because tight spaces sometimes ignite claustrophobia that is typically non-existent. But it was for her birthday, so naturally, I wasn't going to let my fear stop a potentially awesome experience.
Brent was our guide, and we had a solo adventurer, Adam, join our group. So the four of us set off into the wild known, and from the beginning, I was immediately put at ease thanks to Brent's chill demeanor and great vibe.
The hike to the cave was basically textbook. Gorgeous cool, sunny day. There was very little snow to deal with, and we made it up well under the 45-minute mark.
The cave was nothing less than extraordinary. For the avid thrill-seeker-adventurer, it was everything someone who was new to this could want. The pace was perfect, not rushed whatsoever. Brent took us to a few areas where most groups don't typically go only because they're challenging for most people. Our conversations between the four of us were never dull, Brent was a knowledge powerhouse, and he always gave us the option of navigating an area on our own or with suggestions from him all in the name of increasing the challenge. The cave had numerous areas requiring a solid step and firm hand placement. There were also areas where it took a level head and calm demeanor to navigate. Even with my random claustrophobia, I still opted to tackle the areas that were optional due to the higher level of difficulty. I felt good the entire time knowing Brent wouldn't lead us anywhere he didn't think we could conquer.
If you're going to visit Canmore, or even near it, I highly suggest going on this cave adventure. The price is absolutely worth it all thanks to the professionalism of the crew, the chill vibe, the time spent in the cave, and the outright adventure level of it.
