    The manor: Charlie Chaplin behind closed doors The 500 m² staging of the Manoir is dedicated entirely to Charlie Chaplin the man, and to his daily life. Some rooms in the Manoir have been recreated with furnishings and personal items. During the tour, visitors learn about the family life around Charlie and gain insight into the reasons that led him to Switzerland, how he was welcomed, how he lived with his family during the last 25 years of his life, and how much he appreciated it. In the dining room, visitors learn about the family’s daily life, including culinary traditions and the parties and many celebrity guests invited into the home. The studio: Welcome to Hollywood! The Studio is a 1350 m² structure built on the estate to present the cinematographic world of the artist, actor and filmmaker. The tour starts with a montage of images tracing Chaplin’s life and work. It continues on against a backdrop of 20th century history, moving on to a street right out of an Easy Street decor, one of the most emblematic settings of his movies. The Park: A 10-acre park surrounds the Manoir and the Studio, offering visitors a breathtaking view overlooking Lake Leman and the Alps. It is evocative of the special relationship that Chaplin cultivated with nature, in particular the mountainous landscapes, the lake and the vineyards that surrounded his estate. The shop: Come into Chaplin’s old Bentley garage and browse through our range of exclusive souvenirs. Here you will find quality products reflecting the life and work of Charlie Chaplin, including every one of his DVDs and box sets, and his celebrated movie posters. We also offer a wide selection of books, stationery and cards, tableware, and children’s toys. You can even buy your very own version of Chaplin’s iconic hat and cane!

    I had been aware of this museum for some time, but was worried about how easy it might be to get there. If you are a tourist in the surrounding area (we came from Montreux) you can use the "Riviera Card" for free bus travel and half price entry. The regular bus from Vevey takes about 10 minutes and is an entertaining ride as it goes through (very) small roads in the surrounding hills. The attraction itself definitely exceeded expectations. There are two main parts - The Studio and The House. The House is mainly as Chaplin would have left it - with a few areas altered to tell a story. The Studio is a cinema showing a short film - and then you walk through the screen into an amazing experience. I won't spoil it for you - but you won't be disappointed.

    Visite très agréable surtout à ce moment de l année ou les visiteurs sont moins nombreux et nous avons donc pu profiter pleinement des nombreuses informations sur la vie de Chaplin et de ses œuvres

    Shaw's first and BEST Ramen House with great Japanese cuisine in a large corner location at P and 7th Street in Washington NW. Upstair and downstair space, inside and outside seating, bars on both levels..... GREAT environment and vibe with friendly and professional staff and tremendous decor inspired by Charlie Chaplin (hence the restaurant name). Just attended their 10th reunion this week and I've been coming here for good reason since they opened..... Owner Ari Wilder has this restaurant and others here in DC... including the new French Bistro La Bonne Vache (LBV sounds better than the English translation of The Good Cow) in Georgetown that he co-owns with his wife Claire and Guillermo the Great. All were at Chaplin's 10th Birthday Party along with several Georgetown students who moonlight at LBV. Ari scheduled his Birthday Party for Veteran's Day to honor those who have served our country... a nice gesture that was appreciated by the veterans who attended and by all the guests. The Birthday Party pictures that I've included show the fun, hip crowd that Chaplin's attracts... they come for the lively atmosphere, for the great food and drink at affordable prices. And they come back and back and back... all for good reason. I will remain a loyal customer and will attend their future anniversaries!!!
