This one-day trip is a full day of paddling exciting whitewater past cascading waterfalls and the spectacular rainforest. The Pacuare’s class 3 and 4 rapids are suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers, ages 12 and older, who are ready for adventure and being physically active all day. After an early pick-up at your San Jose area hotel, we will drive to Cartago – Costa Rica’s historic capital city – and through small towns and countryside to the rafting hub of Turrialba. We’ll stop for breakfast (included) and afterward head to the Pacuare River put in. At the river, your guides will outfit you with rafting equipment and give a paddling explanation and safety talk. Then the fun begins! We’ll paddle 18 miles downriver through class 3 and 4 rapids like “Huacas,” “Rodeo,” “Pinball,” “Cimarrones,” and “Dos Montañas.” Along the way, we’ll stop for a riverside picnic lunch. After finishing rafting, you’ll be able to change into dry clothes before driving back to San Jose.

The Pacuare River is recognized worldwide for its beauty flanked by its green canyons bathed on both sides by its lush waterfalls. Within its abundant flora and fauna in sight: sloth bears, toucans, parakeets, coatis, a colorful fan of butterflies and frogs, is not out of its exciting crystalline waters that make it an unforgettable adventure trip.

Once in a lifetime experience. The guides were great and funny. You can’t get a better view of nature and do to it in such an exciting way made it all the more special

The experience and the guide Mario were amazing. One of the best rafting experience around. On the downside, the bus driver got confused and pick us up 45 min late. The bus is not very comfortable for the 3 hrs that you need to be inside.

A really lovely day. Not the most exciting white water rafting I’ve done due to the water levels but the trip was well organised. Stunning scenery.
