Founded by Slavs and Romans, who transformed a little Island named Laus into a flourishing trading city of the Mediterranean before living its golden age as the Republic of Ragusa. This period was what makes the city so special today. But this tour also tells you about the dark chapters of Dubrovnik’s history. The devastating earthquake in 1667 accelerating the downfall, with the french occupation finishing it by abolishing the status as an independent Republic. Raising up as a popular tourist destination in the 20th century in Yugoslavia, before getting shelled in a siege during the homeland war between 1991 and 1995.

Kurzer Einblick in die Geschichte der Stadt, gute Startzeit um 4pm, könnte sogar noch eine Stunde später beginnen wegen der Hitze. Die Länge der Tour reicht vollkommen aus.

Deša was so well informed and provided us with a fabulous walking tour which took in the history of Dubrovnik. She recommended locally made souvenirs and restaurants/cafes which we would never have found. She was able to answer all our questions and provided an ideal introduction to Dubrovnik. There are so many tours to choose from but this was, on our experience, excellent!

Valentina was a great guide and knowledgeable about the city. I would recommend doing this tour right away upon arrival and then you’ll learn more about what to do from there.
