Kalamaja, Tallinn, Estonia Kalamaja is famous for its wooden houses and bohemian charm. ‘Kalamaja’ literally means ‘fish house’ in Estonian, and starting from the 14th century the area was traditionally dominated by fishermen, fishmongers, and Boatwrights.
Clever use of space and dedicated use of local produce makes the local restaurant and cafés an integral part of the Kalamaja atmosphere. Our guide Jelena knew exactly what she was doing. Great route, great historical and local knowledge about Tallinn, she was the consummate tour guide. And Tallinn is worth a tour—a fabulous city and getting some of the historical and insider background was a great topping to our short trip here.

Julia was a superior travel guide! Her upbeat spirit and excellent understanding of her city was a delight for both of us! Her explanations and descriptions were insightful and presented in an upbeat had casual manner. She’s got our vote for one of the best guides we have had!

We were only with the 2 of us, so, our guide (Julia) picked us up in our hotel. Immediately she started telling about Tallinn. Unbelievable how much information she shared with us. AMAZING!! There was a really nice conversation between us during the whole tour! We had quite a few good laughs! I can only recommend this touroperator and Julia more specific. Thanks!!
