This is not the typical Comuna 13 - Graffiti tour, we decided to add a visit to a vibrant, colorful, cultural and diverse "PLAZA DE MERCADO" to our experience, in Colombia "Plazas de Mercado" refers to traditional marketplaces where farmers and locals buy and sell a wide variety of fresh fruits, plants, vegetables, flowers, handicrafts and other goods. These markets are not only places to shop but also vibrant hubs of cultural, social and economic activity, where we can experience the city's real culture and atmosphere, we'll immerse into the daily life of Medellín residents nicknamed "Paisas", and really understand their collective background and culture. And of course! we'll have the opportunity to try some delicious exotic fruits surrounded by friendly locals, life and traditions!! Once plagued by the control of drug dealers, guerrillas, and paramilitary groups, today it stands as the shining jewel of Medellín. We'll have a walk through the graffiti route to witness the remarkable fusion of art and history. The graffiti and murals scattered throughout the neighborhood vividly depict its tumultuous past, remarkable present, and its inspiring future. Ascending to the highest point of the mountain is a breeze, thanks to the electric escalators—so no worries for those who prefer an easier climb. Once at the top, we will be rewarded with an extraordinary and strategic view of the city, allowing us to understand why various armed groups sought control over Comuna 13. We'll have the chance to visit art galleries, witness mesmerizing breakdancers, Rap shows, and indulge in the diverse local cuisine that can be found in every corner.

Before arriving there, we had absolutely no idea just how big Medellin was. This tour is an absolute must to see the main sites of the city and to get an idea of what is where. Our guide (Esteban - a whole separate 5 stars just for him!) met us at our hotel and then took us around the city - to a farmers market, up the cable car for a view over the city and beyond, to Communas 13 (my personal fave!) for a coffee and explore, for a fabulous local lunch and right downtown for a look around. Our guide was so patient and so informative, so full of local knowledge about the history and current affairs of the city. We felt totally safe with him driving around the mad streets of Medellin. Esteban’s generosity and knowledge made this already fantastic tour even better. So much so that we spent the next 3 days doing more Andes Adventure Travels tours with him. Must also add that we had issues paying online but this company was so patient and so willing to work with us to find another way for us to pay. I’m certain we wouldn’t have enjoyed our time in Medellin quite so much without these gentlemen.

Excellente journée au main de Daniel qui connais tres bien l’histoire de sa ville! Il parle un excellent anglais ce qui est plutot rare en colombie. Nous avons fais un tour avec lui et le tout etais super!

Nunca había tenido un tour privado y este fue fenomenal! Definitivamente repetiría otro tour con The Andes Adventure ☺️ Guía local, conocía atajos para caminar mejor entre tanta gente y nos tomó fotos con su cámara profesional (detallazo porque eso no estaba incluido como tal en el tour)???? El auto es muy lindo, con aire acondicionado y venía con 2 botellones de agua. Yo no lleve mis gafas de sol y el guía muy amablemente me prestó las suyas ❤️???? Yo estaba enamorada de Medellín por viajes anteriores pero esta vez me enculé fuertemente ???? Conocí la casa de Pablo Escobar, el hueco (compré una Tula de Excelente calidad, y me arrepentí de no comprar 2 o más jajaja) la Alpujarra, el edificio inteligente, el parque de los pies descalzos, la virgen de la rosa mística, el metro, la plaza de Botero, y mucho más ????
