I'm Lanai Tabura, born and raised in Hawaii and currently the host of Cooking Hawaiian Style which airs in 250 cites in the US & 5 other countries. I'm going to take you to all my local favorite hole in walls and establishments that you'll never find unless you were born and raised here in the islands. Some of these place I've been to since I was a child. I just recently won a Emmy award 2018 for the history of a Ramen Documentary. I am also part of the Food Network team Aloha Plate that won season 4 Of "The Great Food Truck Race" I've appeared with Anthony Bourdaim, Man vs. Food & Diners Drive-ins a Dives. I host a series that just begun airing in Hawaii and Hawaiian Airlines called "We Go Eat" that features the foods from Hawaii.

Absolutely amazing time with Lanai. If you do nothing else during your stay, do this! We have done quite a few private tours, including food and this was hands down the best. Lanai shared the true history of Hawai'i through food. We experienced foods that we didn't even knew existed, and Lanai shared about how the different areas have changed. This tour would be perfect for people that enjoy getting out of the touristy spots and truly experiencing the local food scene. The grocery store we stopped at blows Wegmans out of the park and wish we had one back home.

The best food tour you will ever go on. Lanai’s credentials and knowledge was up to par. So much education about the history of the island but also the food. Where certain items came from, how they were grown or brought to the island. Get out of Waikiki and explore more local cuisines with Lanai. Everything we ate was so delicious. You can taste the authenticity and culture in every bite. I can’t thank you enough for showing us around. Aloha!

My niece gifted us a private tour with Chef Lanai Tabura during our trip to Oahu. On the Private Aloha Plate Hawaii Food Tour, we went to authentic Hawaiian and Hawaiian-influenced restaurants and food shops. We loved learning about the history of these foods, how they are prepared, how to purchase them - and most of all - we loved trying them! Lanai was delightful. He is so committed to the preservation of the islands, their food and culture. This was the highlight of our Hawaiian adventure, and his recommendations led us to other less-known but wonderful eating spots throughout the remainder of our trip. We highly recommend you include this tour on your trip to Oahu!
