Suntransfer Faro: a very bad experience.
We had to be at Faro airport at 6 o'clock in the evening on September 8 for the flight to Amsterdam. Rented a large bus more than two weeks in advance because my racing bike had to go back to The Netherlands. Data of weight and dimensions of the by (1.5 mtr.) passed on.
Checked the facts again two days before departure just to be sure. The costs already paid at the time of booking. The bus would arrive at 4 p.m. We received a message that the bus would arrive 10 minutes later. At half past four we still had no report of the presence of a bus. (Our house is out of sight of the road. Wines can't see the road from our house either.) At 10 past four we called Suntransfer to ask when the bus will stay. “But it has been waiting at your door for a long time” was the answer. The driver was sitting dead in her minibus (.!.) waiting in front of our house. It hadn't occurred to her to ring the bell to announce her arrival.
The bike box was too big for this much too small van. We were already late due to the late arrival of the driver. We suggested that the tailgate be tied with a rope, but the lady, who did not speak a word of English, wanted to hear about that. After checking our booking, she admitted that the error was with Suntransfer. He would arrange a large bus through her office. To our surprise, after all in all, 40 minutes an older lady (not a word over the border) arrived with a BMW 3Touring. Fortunately, the bike box just fit. But in that BMW there was not even room for us and our suitcases in addition to the bicycle! So then with 2 cars to the airport in Faro. Arrived just in time.
