During our trip to the Dominican Republic, myself and my partner decided to reserve Adventure Boogies which we both thoroughly enjoyed.
We were collected from our hotel reception around 8:30am and arrived at the adventure boogies base for around 9am so the journey wasn’t greatly long.
Upon arrival to the adventure boogies base, we were welcomed by a bunch of extremely pleasant people, all of which could speak a range of languages so for anybody worried about a language barrier, don’t be. They are very fluent in most languages.
From there we went on into the gift shop where we completed some forms and had a look around the souvenirs. We purchased bandanas from a lovely girl in the gift shop which cost us $5 each, however without them I don’t think the trip would’ve been as enjoyable. If you have your own, I would definitely recommend bringing it along with you. All of the staff in the gift shop were pleasant, but they do put a lot of pressure on you to purchase items. Myself and my partner ended up spending a fortune. They offer you 15% discount which the lady at the check-out tried to ‘forget about’ (if I hadn’t mentioned it, we would’ve paid full price) and a free locker is offered with any purchase, please do not do what we done and purchase something just to get the lockers. They are not worth it as they are not big enough to store any items other than phones, cameras, juice etc.
Our trip on the boogies was great fun. We upgraded to the larger 800cc boogie which we were so glad about as we didn’t get extremely dirty, unlike those in the 650cc boogies who were drenched from head to toe in mud! I guess it totally depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. I would definitely say it was worth the extra money for the upgrade.
Overall I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting the Punta Cana area in Dominican Republic. It’s a great adventure for those looking to venture out-with their resort but not for a full day. The only thing I wish I had known about was the locals begging for money whilst you drive through their villages, this was rather daunting but did not negatively impact our experience - just something I wish I had been aware of before setting off!!
