Alcazar de Toledo, Toledo, Spain The Alcázar of Toledo is a stone fortification located in the highest part of Toledo, Spain. Once used as a Roman palace in the 3rd century, it was restored under Charles I (Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor) and his son Philip II of Spain in the 1540s. In 1521, Hernán Cortés was received by Charles I at the Alcázar, following Cortes' conquest of the Aztecs. Most of the alcázar was rebuilt, or restored, between 1939 and 1957 after the Siege of the Alcázar of the Spanish Civil War.
Catedral Primada, Toledo, Spain The Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo is a Roman Catholic church and it is the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Toledo.

Tamara was a well informed guide and was very attentive to the group. She waited for my wife who had crutches and kept us informed during our visit. Very good.

Toledo is definitely worth visiting but you need more time than the half day trip offers. None of the trips tell you that you waste 40 minutes being taken to the sword factory where you were crowded in with several other coaches to see one blacksmith and one craftsman at work before being left in the shop to buy goods. Having set out just after 9am, we didn't get in the city until 11:45 so only had 2 hours to visit the old town which was lovely, we were so disappointed to have so little time actually in Toledo. Our tour guide Marianne tried her best but with so little time and large crowds we gave up on the guides tour and wandered off on our own. The cost is as other reviewers have said about the same as the train so for convenience it's good value if you treat it as transport. Take the full day tour, or if not get off the bus when it stops to pick up the tour guide at the bottom of the escalators to the old town so you get more time.and miss the unnecessary tour around the outskirts and the factory visit. I wish I had read previous reviews before I had visited as I see that we could have extended my trip to a full day which you really need to enjoy lovely old city.
We always double-check the availability with our local partners for each booking. Even though this is usually a swift process, it can take up to 24 hours. Once this process is completed you will receive your voucher or ticket by email. If our local partner is not able to confirm your booking we will offer you the best possible alternative. If the new date and/or time doesn’t fit your itinerary, we will reimburse the full amount paid.
