We had a fun time on our tour and enjoyed all of the local foods. Our guide was excellent and gave us a ton of great information.

This was a great way to get an overview of the city while trying the cuisine. Javi was a wonderful guide and he brought us to fantastic places to eat, as well as the market.

We met Emilio a few minutes before the tour at the meeting point and started the experience on time. Our group of 5 was a good size as it was easier to get to know one another and navigate the busy Malaga streets. Emilio provided some historical context of the city as we walked by major historical sites and of course spent quite a bit of time describing the various cultures throughout Spain. Our first stop was the market where we enjoyed a few small plates of peppers, olives, almonds, eggplant and sardines. Unfortunately, the fish vendors were all closed since we visited on Monday. Apparently, the are not allowed to fish on Sunday. Those closed vendor booths comprised a good 25% of the market so I felt like we missed part of the experience. Therefore, I recommend that you take the tour Tuesday-Saturday. Second stop was a meat store where we tried some various hams and sausages. It was nice, but we didn’t get a lot to eat there. Third stop was the best. It was a beautifully restored historic restaurant where we enjoyed mostly potato based plates and a glass of wine. The last stop was at another restaurant where we sat outside and enjoyed some ratatouille and tuna. Overall the tour was a fun time. For improvement I would recommend they plan for a dessert at the last stop. That was missing from the food tour in my opinion. Also, I did a similar food tour in Athens earlier this year and got a lot more to eat than on this tour. The tour is a bit too expensive for what you get, but we had a good time. Malaga is a tourist city so some of that is to be expected. I would do the tour again. Emilio did a great job.
