Mountain Bike Tour with Coffee and Lunch in Antioquia's Beautiful Landscapes

Juan (JJ) was a fantastic guide! What an adventure. Terrain was fairly easy, scenery beautiful. Walk across the bridges.

We did the mtn bike tour (8 hrs) although our tour was only 6 hrs. This 6 hrs included a traffic delay due to an accident. This was a good tour thru beautiful landscapes. The trail was what we call in the States a “rail trail” or former railroad line now turned in to a hike/bike path. Very scenic route with tunnels, bridges and a waterfall hike. The tour is “understated” in the online description. It states the tour is for everyone. I would disagree! We are long distance runners and ride mtn bikes (NOT experts, just casual). I would NOT send an inexperienced cyclist on this trail tour. The terrain was rough with rocks , flood wash out, single track with ruts, etc. The bike tires were also narrow for mtn bikes by our standards. Loved the bridges and tunnels! 1 tunnel in particular is very dark! No issue except given the rough terrain this could be dangerous bc you can’t see what you are cycling on, what to avoid, etc. I would recommend for the tunnels the guide have a head lamp and waits in the middle for all the bikes to get thru. This would shed a small amount of lite to help. The ride immediately starts with a steep uphill, probably the steepest hill of the ride. This is not a hill for everyone. I had to push up part of it and I’m in good shape for an ol’ lady. If this tour is for everyone as stated in the description I would say not everyone would even be capable of pushing a bike up this hill walking. I would recommend driving the truck up this hill and dropping off the bikes to start the tour instead of unloading everyone at the bottom of the hill. My helmet was falling apart. The top hard protection piece completely came off from the protective interior “foam”. We enjoyed a good lunch at a local restaurant. Very authentic. I requested vegan meal in my initial reservation. I went back to our text conversation to confirm this. They did not have a vegan or vegetarian option. I made do by just not eating the chicken and that was fine. Not a big deal but for an expensive all day tour I would recommend paying closer attention to this for future guests. We would absolutely do this tour again. I would probably rate the tour a 3.5 star instead of a 4 but half stars were not an option. However I would not recommend this tour for an inexperienced cyclists & there are areas for improvement especially for a more expensive all day tour.
