Hear first-hand accounts of September 11, 2001, on this emotional walking tour of Ground Zero and the financial district with a local guide, uncover the stories surrounding 9/11, and get a better understanding of what happened on the day the World Trade Center fell.
The tour begins at the Financial district where you’ll meet your guide and learn about the role the building played after the attacks. From here, head to the 9/11 Memorial and gather around the Memorial Pools. Listen to your guide share detailed information about the monument and the design of the pools, as well as the architecture of the new World Trade Center and its symbolic use of materials, light, and reflections.
Continue the tour to the Firefighter’s Memorial where you can pay tribute to the victims and those who fought to save them. Next, visit the Eleven Tears Memorial, which is often missed by visitors without a guide. Finally, watch the reconstruction of the site at the Oculus.

The Financial District encompasses roughly the area south of City Hall Park in Lower Manhattan but excludes Battery Park and Battery Park City. On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, the opening of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) was delayed after the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center's North Tower, and trading for the day was canceled after the second plane crashed into the South Tower. NASDAQ also canceled trading. The New York Stock Exchange Building was then evacuated as well as nearly all banks and financial institutions on Wall Street and in many cities across the country. 15 minutes

After the attacks of September 11, 2001, St. Paul’s Chapel, which sits directly across the street from the World Trade Center site, suffered no physical damage.
As recovery work started at the World Trade Center site, hundreds of rescue workers came to Lower Manhattan to search for survivors and begin sorting through the ruins. Slowly at first, rescue workers, police, and firefighters stopped by the chapel to rest and wash up. 30 minutes
