I enjoyed the scenic trip with ever changing scenery. It is long at 11 hours and was quite slow getting into Auckland. The carriage was spacious and the high windows great for gazing out. The look out car was perfect for photos if a bit cold and windy but that didn’t stop lots of people from using it.

Relaxing trip to Tongariro National Park. Left Auckland and arrived at the National Park on time. Nice variety of food offered. Be aware - NO transportation at National Park train station and the cafe there is closed. Make arrangements with a shuttle service to pick you up.

A very relaxing journey down to Wellington, The views were amazing coverd with a good commentary regarding the historyof the area. Thcarriages were nice and clean and comfortable. The food though was just ok, i feel a little more thought needs to go into the menu.
