  • We recommend that women do not use our bathing facilities whilst pregnant. However, it is an individual’s choice and we recommend that you seek advice from your health professional if you are wanting to bathe.
  • Not recommended for travellers with heart problems or other serious medical conditions
  • The minimum age for the Mud Bath is 2.5 years, and for the Sulphur Spa is 6 months.
  • Children are considered those aged 5 -15. Under 4s are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

We found the staff absolutely fantastic here and the landscape is utterly fascinating! The mud bath is a bit touristy. You sit in a murky pool and dig mud out of a bucket to slap on you. We cut ours short because a bunch of loud kids got in our ‘bath.’ Then you move to a sulphur spa which was pretty relaxing. Beware - your skin will ooze sulphur smell for a few days, and I’ll probably have to throw my swimmers out. Also, there’s no privacy in the change rooms. I’m totally fine being naked around strangers but I could see other women were struggling to change while trying to hold a towel up. It’s also a bit pricy - but we’re finding most things a bit over priced in NZ. Overall, worth doing.

We took a trip as a family with two children (5 & 2) and my 77 year old mum who needs a walking frame to get around. We had an absolutely fantastic day out. Tonnes to keep the kids entertained as we walked around, great information around the site without overloading on facts. Plenty of benches for mum to take a rest along the route. Scenery is stunning, in particular we loved the devils breath which our kids truly believed was a dragon living underground! After the walk we all took part in the wood craving with a great instructor which was really fun and a great souvenir to take home. We finished off our day relaxing in the hot pools and mud bath which was such a unique experience. Our skin felt lovely afterwards and we were totally revived after our walk. This is a MUST!!!! Facilities were super clean and staff in all the different locations were so friendly and informative. Huge coffees in the cafe too. We totally recommend this day out!

Took the guided tour. Well worthwhile. Knowledgeable young guide provided lots of cultural information. Amazing effectively walking around the top of a dormant volcano. Bubbling mud and boiling lakes all over the place as well as a beautiful waterfall.
