Derry Guided Tours will take you around 1.4 km (0.87 miles) of one of the best preserved walled cities in Europe. Built in 1613 the walls are utilised in telling the history of Derry. Starting in the Monastic period (6th century) the history of Derry unfolds Nine Years War, Plantation of Ulster, 1641 Rebellion, Siege of Derry 1689, 1798 Rebellion the Great Hunger and more. Angela Heaney took us on a private tour to see the walls, the walled city, the Bogside. This was a very good tour. Angela is a historian and knows how to present a not a easy part of Irland’s young history very understandable. This guide deserves a review with the rating “excellent”!
