  • Portobelo National Park, Colon, Panama
    Portobelo is a town located in the Caribbean coast. It was attacked by some of the most famous pirates in history such as Henry Morgan, Francis Drake and Edgard Vernon. During the Spanish colony Portobelo was the main port of shipment of the gold brought from Peru. In Portobelo you can admire the fortress of San Geronimo and the fort of Santiago as well as the Customs building which was used to store gold at the time of the Spanish Empire. We will visit San Felipe church whit the famous Black Christ of the seventeenth century inside

They should call this TRASH ISLAND, if you can set your expectations low enough you might enjoy the island. It is strewn with trash all along the coastline, even sitting by the ocean for breakfast one can watch the trash float by. Nobody here cares about the environment. We had to go to three different beaches to find one that was clean enough to swim, even then we did not want to put our head under the water. Find someplace else!

We had an amazing time on our tour of Portobelo and Isla Grande. Our guide Thomas was very knowledgeable and friendly and Alejandro was super friendly arranging the tour. Fabulous tour if your looking for a historical tour with incredible views
