15-Day Tour of Peru Family Travel

From beginning to end this was an incredibly fantastic trip! I travelled by myself, Axel is an exceptional tour guide. He was there at the airport when I arrived, and at each destination either Axel or a tour guide was there to meet me. This is a full 15 days of fun. On my way to Nasca, I found myself in a taxi next to a cotton field surrounded by a sea of sheep, llamas and alpaca. This is truly an adventure where you interact with the locals. The fly over Nasca was awesome, Machu PIccu cannot be described by words or pictures, you have to see it. Arequipa is a beautiful city. Lake Titicaca was a beautiful trip. You will not be bored. Take in the country, the people and the experience. Hotels are are nice, explore the night life and enjoy the local cuisine. I cannot say enough about Axel and his excellent service. In fact I stayed an extra day and Axel, his sister and neighbor took me on a tour of Lima--at no extra cost! You will see things that most tourists don't, I saw farmer's markets, villages and sights the large tour companies drive right past. Often it was just Axel, the driver and myself in a van or taxi. If you're up for an adventure, this is the trip for you. I'd go back tomorrow, I had too much fun. Enjoy! Finally, be prepared for the all night bus trip from Nasca to Arequipa. In the end it is all worth it as Arequipa is a beautiful city! The good news is it is a luxury bus with reclining seats and foot rests and you can actually sleep on the bus. Don't miss out.

From airport pick up on 1st day to last day of tour, very poor service providedwaited 40 minutes at the airport. Local tour oper was provided terrible services and tried to rip us off every single occasion. There are no 10 to 12 people of tour group-only me and my wife-and they put us on local transportation for 4 hours with about 40 stops for pick up and drop off local peopleLima to Paracas. Hotels are 3 stars what they said but I believe 1 star. Local tour operatorAxel tour or peru tourism information by tour operator name Axel was terrible. He charges for 4 days with us, he charges 160 30 180option for private car and tour for 2 spot. I kick him out 4th day because he said that Cusco to Lima air ticket was not included our trip then he said charges will be 180 to 230 per person. Then he suggested for 230 per person ticket. I check Expedia web site and ticket price is 70 per person. I showed him for ticket price then he said we have to pay extra foreign people charges tax at the airport. I totally frustrated and ask him to leave, then he charged to us 160 and we paid. From Machu Picchu to Cusco on day 14th, we supposed to take train to Cusco, but train ticket was to Sacred Vally station and wait 40 minutes to fill the local people to small van and drive more then 1 and half hour with over 100 km/hr on very dangerous cliff road to Cusco. Finally we were trust Viator's values and testimonial from other travelers, but even Viator charges little more, you need to use right reasonable local tour operator and 3 star Hotels what you indicated on web site. Also need to describe what kind of transportation going to provide, exact size of group and need to send detailed true information what we suppose to have. We agreed and enjoyed Peru's natures and interesting site, but we still do not understand why Viator provided false information. Thanks.

This was my first trip to Peru, and I wanted a multi-day tour that covered the highlights. This tour covered what I wanted to see...and more. Axel Tours designed this 15-day journey starting at sea level in Lima and ending in the higher elevations. Every local guide was outstanding! We started with a city tour of Lima, including the Convent and Church of San Francisco with its underground Catacombs. We traveled to the Paracas Peninsula and saw an incredible array of wildlife on Ballestas Island. Seeing the Nazca Lines from a small plane is an unforgettable memory. We loved Arequipa, where they had a huge festival one evening. Driving across a National Reserve we saw herds of vicunas, alpacas and llamas. We saw condors in flight in Colca Canyon. We really enjoyed our stay at a lodge in Chivay Valley, where stunning agricultural terraces were just outside our room. On Lake Titicaca we visited the floating islands of the Uros and had an entertaining lunch on Taquile Island. In Cusco the tour of several ruins just outside the city was awe-inspiring. A train to Aguas Calientes led to our experience at Macchu Picchu, which was absolutely amazing. Axel Tippe was our tour coordinator, and he was responsible and helpful to us in every way. I especially appreciated that he arranged an optional private car to see some places not included on this itinerary. I highly recommend this tour!
