We booked a driver from Viator from Ponta Del Gada Airport to our hotel and back. The first pickup went as expected. For the ride back to the airport, the driver never showed up, despite their confirmation e-mail the night before that the driver would be there at 8:30 a.m. To make things worse, they didn’t respond to our four increasingly frantic e-mails as the time of our flight got closer and there was no telephone number to call. It was only by the efficiency of the hotel concierge who called a taxi company for us 45 minutes after the Viator driver was supposed to be there, the taxi driver who broke speed records to get us to the airport, and the kindness extended by the airport staff who allowed us to board the plane that was already preparing for departure that we were we able to make our flight, the only one coming back to the USA that day. I will never use Viator again. Their extreme lack of professionalism caused so much unnecessary stress and anger for what had been a lovely trip.
