Let's do hiking in Punta Cana

We enjoyed the beauty of the hike and it got us out of the lounge chair and in motion. Pretty scenery and the guide was very friendly. It was a small group which we enjoyed. We also stopped at a small farm to sip coffee and learn about the cocoa process. We did make a final stop at a local spot to view the river. I would pass on that if given the choice because although it could be pretty it was properly ruined with an enormous amount of trash strewn everywhere. But good trip otherwise.

The hike was difficult but great! There is mud and small water crossings and some parts are pretty steep. The guide Wilkin and the driver Paul were so generous and hospitable with their time and knowledge. I would really recommend this to anyone interested in the outdoors and engaging with local guides. If you're from out of the country, beware, adjusting to the heat and humidity is no joke on a hike like this - but so worth it! Our guides knew a lot about the flora and fauna in the area, not to mention local culture and food. Wilkin and Paul went above and beyond for us and our friends and I would absolutely come back to hang with them and go on more adventures!

Wilkins our tour guide was a relaxed and lovely presence on our hike. He put up with my million questions about the native trees plants and birds and pointed out things we never would have noticed alone. We were lucky to see a wide variety of birds, butterflies and plants as we hiked through the quiet rural hills. The cocoa plantation was a very interesting and delicious experience with opportunity to support the local growers. Only downside was some deep mud after a heavy rain the day prior but it also added an element of fun. Would recommend securely-fitting shoes, ankle support is wise too.
