Next to the historical Eagle's Nest the 11th century Fortress Hohenwerfen, one of the most magnificent mountain fortifications in the Alps, is another top highlight of this 8-hour private tour from Salzburg. From April 1st to about May 10th (depends on the snow conditions of the year), the Eagle's Nest direct access road is closed, alternatively we offer to visit the Rossfeld summit instead. From this vantage point, soak in panoramic views of the stunning Austrian and Bavarian Alps and the nearby Eagle's Nest. What a terrific experience. The locations were as you would expect; surreal & full of thoughtful history. But Manfred, our guide, added a hue we didn't anticipate. As you embark on a tour in an unfamiliar place with an unfamiliar new face, Manfred's demeanor was positively engaging out of the gate. What a treat to experience a tour with a guide so committed to the experience and genuinely engaged as if you were old acquaintances. Really; very nice work. Highly recommended. We had a wonderful all-day private tour with Patrick! We were not able to visit The Eagle's Nest because an earlier snowfall and avalanche blocked access to the hilltop site. Instead, Patrick offered a couple of options and we chose to visit the beautiful Gollinger Wasserfall. The historic Werfen Castle was so majestic and interesting. As another added treat, Patrick took us to the site of Hitler's original home! We also had a nice lunch at a rooftop restaurant in a nearby town. Throughout our drive Patrick pointed out local landmarks and told us interesting information about the area. His genuine friendliness and enthusiasm made it a truly enjoyable day. We would highly recommend this tour!

We spent a lovely day with Patrick touring Hoenwerfen Castle and the Eagles Next area. We had the most amazing time! The tour was filled with great information, interesting stories, and enough time at local attractions that we were able to immerse ourselves in the history and experience. Patrick went above and beyond to follow up with us after the tour to share restaurant and local dish recommendations (after hearing us talk about our desire to have a more local experience). We tried several of his recommendations and it was the best food of the trip. We would rate the tour 10 full stars if we could!
