Absolutely the best!!! Carlos was fantastic. He knew so much about history at Eagles Nest. And so much about the Sound of Music. My teenage girls even thought he was a great tour guide. We had so much fun.

Michael was the consumate guide. He greeted us promptly, directly outside the train station and whisked us straight up into the mountains to visit the Eagles Nest. Having done private tours for many years he was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and attractions, with insider tips and interesting facts you wouldn't find just by googling! ;) He seemed to know everyone and was able to somehow get us the best seats on the bus (the last leg up the mountain has to be done on busses), in the front of all the lines and even to the most wonderful, family owned traditional Bavarian restaurant for lunch. We were with him all day, in his luxury, very clean and comfortable, Mercedes van. He was a safe and efficient driver and took us on beautiful side routes and shortcuts through the gorgeous Austrian/ German countryside. After our fascinating visit at the Eagles Nest, with panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps which clearly marked the division between the two countries, we headed back down the "hill" (elevation 6017 ft) and toward Salzburg and our Sound of Music tour.
Michael took us to multiple movies sites and again had wonderful background stories about the actual history of the time and the true and Hollywood versions of Maria and the Captain's famous love story. What a thrill to see these places in person and enjoy the journey with the soundtrack blaring and all of us singing along with every beloved song.
Finally, we ended back in central Salzburg where Michael walked us to the bridge separating Old and New Town.... gave us a few more recommendations and directions back to the train station, then bid us a fond adieu. Traveling with Michael was worth every penny!
Michael... If you're reading this, I just wanted you to know we made it all the way to the Nonnburg Abbey and the Fortress Hohensalzbur. Wow!!! What a 5 ⭐ day!!! TY... Tina and Tim
