Located deep within the Chiquibul Forest Reserve and nestled amid high-canopy jungle, the archaeological complex includes five plazas, an astronomic observatory and thousands of buildings.     Enroute to Caracol Maya site you will be driving by the Mountain Pine Ridge while having the chance of spotting flora and fauna typical to this region.
  • Rio On Pools, Augustine, Belize
    After enjoying touring around the Maya site and enjoying a delicious packed lunch, you will have the option of choosing either between the Rio On Pools or Big Rock for a quick swim in the cooling water holes.

Our knowledgeable guide/driver Bryton gave us a rewarding full day of experiences. A clamber into the Rio Frio cave on the trip out to Caracol was a sleeper highlight, Caracol is the most fascinating Mayan site you’ve never heard of, and a hike to a dip below Big Rock Falls was a refreshing, uncrowned dessert.

The whole day was expected to be a great one but exceeded all expectations. We had the chance to have the car and driver just for the two of us. The driver was an extremely knowledgable person, on everything, flora, fauna, politics and, of course history. But not just what he could have learned in the books or in a guide school: he took part in several campaigns of archaeological excavations on the site of Caracol, of which one of six months on the spot, and was able to give us exclusive explanations drawn from his personal experience. This visit was definitely one of the most pleasant and interesting of our three weeks in Central America.

Great tour, and our guide Leo was incredibly knowledgeable about both Mayan history and Belizian past and present. Cant recommend him and Belize Family Adventure enough :)
