Testimonies tell about intrepid navigators, sacrificed fishermen and brave whalers. The Basque Coast and its green slopes have witnessed the evolution of a nation that has developed its modus vivendi around the Cantabrian Sea. Its legacy, coastal communities, txakoli vineyards in the highlands and grills at street level that emanate aromas of tradition. All this, honored around the table of its famous restaurants (and bars). We will be visiting vineyards and tasting Txakoli (the local white wine) by the hand of their makers, enjoying the freshets seafood brought directly from the fishing port and, of course, getting to know the history and tales surrounding the villages of Getaria and Zumaia. We will head to see the breathtaking geological phenomena called "Flysch" spotted in the worlwide famous series "Game of Thrones"

This crisp and fresh wine has been made by the families located in the hills that surround the main fisihing villages of the Basque Coast. Underrated in the past, Txakoli is conquering nowadays the palates from Japan to New York. We will get to one of them to visit and taste in their vineyards while knowing the history and culture of this rising wine of this Atlantic Wine

  • Getaria Fishing Port, Getaria, Spain
    After the visit and tasting we will go to one of the most inconical fishinng towns of the Basque Coast, Getaria. In here we will explore the port and the town's narrow streets while the aromas of grilled fish fill the air. Can you guess what we have for lunch? Yes, we will enjoy a charcoal-grilled fish (whatever is in season) in one of their local restaurants (from the linen to our table), and yes, we will have it with some more Txakoli.

    After lunch we will drive by the coast through one the most scenic roads of the Basque Country to arrive to Zumaia This once whaling town is famous for the outstanding views it offers of the so called "Flysch". This geological phenomena is not just a wonder for our eyes but a protected biotope by UNESCO and a filming spot for one the last great series "Game of Thrones".

Last year, my friends and I had the pleasure of embarking on an incredible gastronomic journey led by the incredible Juan. From the moment we met him, his warm and gentle demeanor instantly put us at ease, and we knew we were in for an extraordinary experience. Juan's expertise in the local gastronomic culture was truly impressive. His vast knowledge and passion for the culinary arts were evident as he took us through the city, introducing us to the hidden gems and culinary delights that were waiting to be discovered.
