Sydney Taronga Zoo's Aussie Backyard Adventure Tour

Couldn’t wait to get there and Then???? This poor Lonley Tiger not moving on top of a hut style man made object lifted its head in sorrow and then didn’t move and just closed its eyes “ not sue what I was expecting “ It seemed lifeless Then off to the lions and seen two lions with no activity at all actually they didn’t move Apes and monkeys were no better the group of monkeys looked lost and bored The food at the cafeteria yes very dear but i expected that. I found walking around that this zoo is very spread out with not much action or shows at all. I was expecting a 9:30 show of some kind 10:30 show a 12:30. show 2 o’clock feeding of some kind but they were very very rare and it all depends on what side of the park and where you were to get to them at the appropriate time. Silly me I was expecting an entry sign of all feeding times and shows. There were a lot of volunteers showing maps and directions on entry. We also think if they had a staff member or volunteer at some animal displays explaining food, breeding life span etc.. any information would have been great. Also, I watched a lot of elderly people struggle. There is a lot of uphills a lot of stairs and I just didn’t think it was 100% wheelchair friendly or stroller for most families that we past. It our opinion It’s really from what we could observe it’s not really for babies or kiddies under 5 day out they find it rather tiring at their age On the day that we went we left after 2 hours very disappointed from what was there and surroundings. Found getting there by walking up and down hills from arriving on a ferry was ridiculous to the entry gate This especially for the elderly and people with strollers and children and babies. Once the buses are packed there’s no other option you must walk up hills and when you leave downhills probably not the best way in a wet seasons to visit as you would be rather wet. P You can take your own food and drinks and they do sell a small amount of alcohol Thank goodness the elephant moved and the giraffes came out of their little hideaway Overall disappointing day. We were excepting an exciting day and leave with an amount of knowledge which we have seen from other zoo we visited. Visited 6/12/24

Our guides were very knowledgeable! So glad we booked this tour, would do it again and highly recommend.

Our guide was very experienced and friendly. It is worthwhile to get there early, before large bus groups appear if possible. There are several areas to walk through with very colorful birds. The kangaroos were all sleeping and very relaxed. It was an enjoyable experience.
