Jiufen (also known as Jioufen, Chiufen or 九份), once a prosperous gold rush town before the 1970s, straddles the Pacific Ocean and is perfectly situated up in the hills. Our guide, Logan, took 6 of us on a 7 hour tour into the small villages of Jiufen and Shifen. We stopped along the way for vistas, waterfalls, and to look into temples. We walked through busy markets, making a few purchases along the way. But the highlight was sending up our sky lanterns. What fun! Logan said we needed to put our names on it so the God knew who to bless so we put out names on it, along with the name of our wonderful guide, Logan. Thank you Topology and thank you Logan!
