This Viator bus trip was probably the easiest way to see both these places if you don’t have a car and they were both interesting places, with both requiring a lot of walking. The Tivoli gardens were especially beautiful. However, looking at the scenery on the way there and back was spoilt by dirty bus windows. The guide was very knowledgeable but was sometimes difficult to understand due to her accent. And she talked non stop. However, both the bus driver and the guide went out of their way to navigate a way back into Rome on a day when the train system had shut down and many streets in Rome were blocked because of the Free Palestine protest marches.

Seeing sites outside Rome it a must to help one understand the beauty of the country. This was definitely worthwhile experiencing!! Our guide, Marcia, was extremely knowledgeable and had tons of info to convey. Her command of English is very good. However, her pronunciation and the speed at which she speaks made her hard to understand at times. What warrants 5* though, is that our bus returned to Rome amid massive local protests and a rail workers strike closing subway stations and trains and gridlocking ALL the streets. Marcia was excellent about trying to get our group of 30+ people to a destination from which we could navigate back to our hotels. She went above and beyond. The one caution I give is this truly is a Level 3 difficulty excursion. My tracker reports almost 5 miles of walking. The Villa D'Este portion has alot of steps and you need to be prepared to walk down them all, as well as back up.

One of my favorite tours I've done in Italy, the villas are breathtaking and Marsha was a wonderful guide. Absolutely would recommend
