Greenwood Great House, Montego Bay, Caribbean The Greenwood Great House (Plantation home) was constructed in the early 18th Century. Like most, if not all the other Great Houses in Jamaica, the Greenwood Great House was built at high elevation. One could say that this was a strategy used back in the plantation era as a means of overlooking the plantation and also for security purposes. This house, unlike the Rose Hall Great House, is not haunted but of a more peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The history and the architecture of the house is what will blow you away. As you pass by, feel free to take photos when your tour guide slows down.
Rose Hall Great House, Rose Hall, Caribbean This Rose Hall Great House is an early 18th century plantation home that sits on a high elevation on thousands of acres in Rose Hall, Montego Bay. The Rose Hall Great House was once owned by the famous and certainly one of the wickedest plantation owners to walk the land of Jamaica, Annie Palmer. She owned hundreds of slaves. This house became haunted after her gruesome death in 1831. The house is scary to look at even in the daytime. There is no stop at the Rose Hall Great House on your way to Negril however, your tour guide will tell you the history and slow down so that you can take photos.

Picked up from our hotel in Falmouth, drove to seven Mile Beach in Negril taking in the countryside views. arrived at Seven Mile Beach at Boardwalk Village bar and restaurant where we were superbly looked after.
Sun loungers right on the beach in front of the bar where fresh lobsters were being grilled straight from the day's catch.
You can hire a locker if you want to go for a walk on this lovely beach, although it is open to the public even though there are hotels all along the front, so it is not quiet; however it was still a beautiful place.
It actually rained for half an hour, so we ate in the bar where they had great food and cocktails at sensible prices. We could have just stayed here all day, evenings must be amazing.Sadly we had to go after some sunbathing and then off to shop for souvenirs at a small shopping mall nearby...some good bargains.
Then on to Rick's Café, lots of stories about this place...yes it was in a magical location, yes the diver (just one today who only dived twice from 85 feet) was unbelievable. BUT...there are just too many people in there, hordes of spring breakers behaving like it's the first time on their own, drinking too much and being mostly obnoxious. There are mixes of age groups, but the whole atmosphere is geared toward the 18 - 24 age group... nothing wrong with that, but it is pitched as a laid back place to relax, which it is not.
It has a great sound system, but most of the time it is teenagers squirming around on the dancefloor alongside little kids copying music video dancing. Add to that the crazy half drunk guys who choose to dive or jump from the lower cliffs and you probably will feel very old if you're over 30!!
Add overpriced food and drinks and the day just seemed to drag on until the lovely sunset, after which there is a stampede for the exit. A great location spoiled by too many people and lots of showing off, however Seven Mile Beach was very good.
