Doges Palace was quite the treat. But only after having read much about Venice history. I think that it should be a prerequisite to understand the Venetian history before you go. My wife absolutely loved the gondola ride.

See all marvelous painting at the all palace ????and enjoy the night life at San Marcos plazza also the ferry to the airport

This was great for a self guided tour! Plenty of signs with info to read. The only downside was that there were no signs on the prison side telling what famous persons were in what cells and their stories. The gondola ride was also phenomenal!!
