I was nervous booking with Universal Tour due to the mixed reviews. I can say that it was frustrating mostly due to the agency or service that had both inaccurate information and no live customer service options at all. We travelled in late June 2021.
First, the confirmation for the tour included a meeting point which was incorrect. The Google Map position or pin in their email was wrong, and by the time we realized it, we had to run with 2 kids about a mile or so away, in the rain, on cobblestone streets. Thank goodness the tour guide didn't leave. The agency doesn't provide her direct cell # or emergency email/phone #, so if can't find the correct meeting point, then you are out of luck.
Once we met our guide, she was told that the tour was supposed to be in German, which is so weird since I never indicated German (we're not european at all), and I even emailed the agency directly to reconfirm the tour - in English - about two days before.
Once the tour started, she was fine. Very nice. Concentrated a little too much on the paintings within the palace, but not enough on the overall history and design of Versailles, (ie the period of the times, the daily life of royals and servants, historical impact of the royal family members), not much to say about Marie Antoinette's farm itself (we just walked through and looked at the animals w/o much commentary), design of the gardens, what real farm live was like, etc. She knows mythology though from the paintings.
