We pick up our guests at the dock of their hotel on the shores of the lake in Panajachel or Santa Catarina. If your hotel does not have a dock, the meeting point will be at the dock of Porta Hotel in Panajachel or Casa Palopo Hotel in Santa Catarina.

    We`ll pick you up at your hotel´s lobby l in Panajachel and go to the town's boat dock. A private powerboat will be waiting for us and we`ll navigate in the lake for around 30 minutes until getting to San Juan La Laguna Town, our first stop.

    On the San Juan La Laguna Town visit, you'll get to learn the ancestral art of Natural Dye of Fabrics, Medicinal Herbs Garden & Fine Artisanal Chocolate factory. After this visit, we`ll take a boat ride to San Pedro La Laguna Town to know why it is so popular and take some pictures.

We really enjoyed our time with David. He introduced us to knowledgeable guides who taught us about traditional Mayan chocolate making, traditional Mayan spinning, dyeing and weaving and bee keeping and preservation. He shared some words from his native Mayan language with us and showed us how to recognize genuine handicrafts.

We thought the tour was just okay. The chocolate and weaving visits were going to a store where the store clerks give demonstrations to everyone that walks in the door. The stores were filled with tourists. We felt pressure to tip or buy something at each stop. At lunch we were given no options, just a chicken leg in a broth with rice on the side. We had a beer and had to pay extra. We also were asked to pay for a taxi ride (tuk tuk) to one of the sites. At $100 pp, I didn't expect to pay for all the little extras.
