Don’t miss the incredible Cloth of Gold vestments which were lost for over 120 years after they were hidden from Cromwell’s army, the Great Charter Roll which was viewed by Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Ireland and the only piece of clothing to survive King Henry VIII’s reign, ‘The Cap of Maintenance’.
Waterford Treasures Medieval Museum, Waterford, Ireland The Medieval Museum houses the 13th century Choristers Hall and the 15th century Mayor’s Wine Vault, in the heart of Waterford's Viking Triangle and is the only museum of its kind in Ireland and Europe that is built over two national monuments. This striking new building reveals the story of Waterford through the middle Ages and visitors are wowed as they go underneath the new building into centuries old vaults.

Turned up last week to bring a friend to visit the Medieval Museum.
Paided to get in but was not told the Choristers’ Hall and Mayor's Wine Vault was closed to the public which is the best part of the museum.

This is one of many attractions to enjoy during a visit of the Viking Triangle, however, this museum is definitely at the top of the list. We joined a tour with our guide jamie, which made it absolutely fascinating, he was fun and professional, highlights included,
the Great Charter Roll of Waterford, created in 1373.
The cloth of gold vestments are the only full set of medieval vestments to survive in northern Europe
A ceremonial sword and two maces gifted to the city by King Edward IV in 1462, in the basement is the thirteenth century Choristers’ Hall and the fifteenth century Mayor’s Wine Vault.
After a wonderful tour with Jamie we spent another hour exploring, the displays further.
All in all a wonderful experience.
