Whales of Iceland is the largest whale museum in Europe. The 23 life-sized models of whales species found around Iceland are each modeled after an actual whale in the wild. The museum features underwater soundscapes & lighting, multiple interactive experiences, and a new exhibit highlighting the threats (and their solutions) that whales face today. The documentary Sonic Sea is screened four times daily for guests. Guided tours are available for all ticket holders at 11:00 and 15:00 each day.

Its main exhibit consists of 23 man-made life size models of the various whale species found in Icelandic waters throughout recorded history, including the blue whale, sperm whale, the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale and many more! See them all in their actual size! With interactive information stands and videos, surrounded by soothing whale sounds, underwater ambient lighting and black and yellow beach-like floor, Whales of Iceland is a dreamy adventure for the whole family. The newest addition to Whales of Iceland is the Fin Whale Room, which highlights the various threats (and their solutions) that whales and other marine life face today. This is an excellent way to learn more about the oceans and raise awareness of these issues.

É interessante mas nada de especial. Para as crianças tem mais interesse. Recomendo mais o lava show e o FlyOver Iceland localizados na mesma área.

Enjoyed visiting this museum. There was a short film regarding how sound in the ocean from ships, and military navy testing impacts and damages the health of whales, was worth taking time to see. Lots of whales to see and information to find out. There is a food court nearby the museum , supermarkets, ice cream shop, and sport clothing store. If you have the time it is worth to visit the museum and surrounding area. Highly recommend it.

A somewhat expensive ticket for what you get, we still enjoyed a quick visit to the Whales of Iceland Museum, if only to wander around the enormous models of whales to get a sense of their true size. We've been to several whale and whaling museums around the world and thought this was fine. If you're going on a whale watching boat tour and want to learn more about whales, this might be a nice visit for you.
