Excellent place to visit... lots of steps up and down to get around all the peaks in one day but worth it.

We took a private day tour to HuaShan Mountain with Wendy Wu tours. Our guide, Cecilia, was great. First, the mountain itself is awesome. The air around Xi'an is not very good, but we were fortunate and it was a pretty clear day. We rode the cable car to the North Peak and from there hiked to the Middle Peak and the East Peak. We did not have time to get to the South or West peak. It is not a hike for the faint of heart as there are precipitous drops all around. The views are worth it though. There were hand rails on all the trails we hiked. Also, there are hundreds of steps and many of them are very narrow. There were some options for more adventurous climbing such as holding onto chains to go up a 30 foot cliff, but there were always alternative paths around them. You should be fit and not very afraid of heights if you want to hike to different peaks and to enjoy it. Our guide, Cecilia, spoke very good English and took excellent care of us. She is very conscientious, personable, and we highly recommend her. She went out of the way to get us a red wedding envelope for a wedding we were going to.
