What makes a great guide? A pleasant demeanor, knowledge of the area, a careful driver make a good guide. The ability to assess your customers walking abilities and make extra arrangements to accommodate them makes a great guide. Alex was a great guide. The trip to Transylvania is approximately two hours each way and traffic can be difficult. Alex knew the right roads to get there and back from Bucharest with minimal delays. Our main focus was King Carol’s summer palace and Brams Castle of Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula. At the summer palace Alex was able to let us off next to the palace instead of the long walk from the parking lot. At Brams Castle he parked near enough so that it was a small walk and obtained our tickets without waiting in line. At our request we skipped a lunch in a nice restaurant in the mountains and he substituted a Romanian fast food place that was remarkable. Homemade lamb pastrami. Mmmm. Coupled with a trip through beautiful Brasov the trip was truly a great value.
