My husband and I were a little disappointed in our experience with our limoncello tasting. The description did not really match the experience we had. First of all, it is in the middle of nowhere in Tramonti. Due to this, we got a private car service from our place and back (recommended by the host) for 120 euros. When we got there, we were greeted in a very small building. We walked back into the "factory" where they made the limoncello. The host had us peel a lemon and try it. After giving us a two minute explanation on how to make the limoncello, we walked out of the factory into the "lobby" where we made small talk with the host and his assistant. My husband and I asked a bunch of questions, which he answered, but we were disappointed that we were the ones asking the questions about limoncello. After about 5 minutes, the tour guide offered us a taste of the limoncello while talked about the history of Tramonti (again, not anything about lemons or limoncello). He also gave us something else to try (dark liquid) that tasted like grappa. There was no history behind this drink and he wasn't even sure on what was in the ingredients. After we tried the limoncello and "grappa" drink, we walked outside where he showed us the lemon trees and gave us again, history of Tramonti and Naples, Italy. The tour was supposed to be around 1.5 hours but it was 45 minutes (and only because we kept asking a ton of questions). Had we not asked all of the questions, the tour would've been 30 minutes long. Our driver was under the impression that it was going to be an hour and a half and since it was only 30 minutes, the host was calling him constantly to come pick us up. While we were outside, they closed the shop so we had to stay outside and wait. We asked him if we could buy the limoncello since it was so fresh and he seemed surprised we wanted to buy it. He let us purchased it and then luckily our driver came. We were disappointed in the lack of knowledge we learned and the experience we had. We learned more on a food tour in Naples about limoncello than the own limoncello maker himself.
