The tour about 2-2.5 hours was a package full of treats and great suggestions to follow up later which we did.
Delightful Broome not doomed but a dream with Dooma
We had worried about our trip being doomed, having been told that dirt and drink hangs in the air everywhere.
It was certainly not to be.
On our Day 2 in Broome we joined Dooma for a tour of Broome and surrounds .
His commentary was full, entertaining and informative.
Everywhere there are Frangipani shrubs the scent is fabulous. Alistair McAlpine in the 1970s brought the tropics’ fauna including Palms , boab trees, frangipani. hibiscus and desert roses as well as doing a million other things to develop the town.
The heat and humidity which greets you at the airport is known as the Kimberley Hug and the amazing colours of the rocks and ocean at Gantheaume Point were just stunning.
Dooma gave us enough history to whet our appetite for more later. For a small town there are nuggets of interest around every corner.
This tour is a great introduction to a truly interesting place well worth doing with a welcome cold drink and an iced cloth at the end to cool down.
