My sisters and I went on the Gabala day trip tour this week, and had a fabulous time. We had purchased a private tour, which meant we had a beautiful van to ourselves. We also got to customize the trip to include a visit to the lavender farm (which was near the end of its season). Communication leading up to the trip (and throughout) was great- Narmin connected with us leading up the event with all the important details and throughout the day, would send check ins to ensure the trip was smooth and was successful. She was super nice and thoughtful! ❤️
The van was air conditioned and had seats facing one another so we could stretch out our legs for the long trip. We love a good tour and frequently say that our driver/guide team can make or break the experience. We had a great duo in our driver Anar, and our tour guide, Jamal. This team was thoughtful as well beginning in the morning with buying us lots of bottled water, playing fun music when we needed, or allowing for lots of quiet rest time throughout the day as well.
Throughout the day, Anar’s driving was so safe and smooth- we made great time from stop to stop. What was an unexpected delight was the level of botanical knowledge he shared with us throughout the day as he recognized different plants and shared the uses for them.
Jamal was super knowledgeable and would share just enough to provide context and intrigue for the places we went, but then would let us explore on our own or take any pictures we wanted. We were not rushed, and although we had many stops along our 14-hour day, we felt like we got enough time at each site. Like most of these tours, every one can be slightly different from the last— as in, you may see some new sights if you choose to go on the tour at different times.
Altogether, we had 7 stops ranging from architectural beauties (a mosque and 600 year old house ) to natural wonders (the lake, the waterfall, the mountains). The restaurant our guide chose was tucked into the mountains and had a beautiful ambiance and a large menu— everything was delicious. I’d definitely recommend this tour and this team for your vacation!
Note to future travelers: You will do a bit of walking on this trip - some stairs, and will have exposure to full sun so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen. If you do go to Tufandag and plan to take the ski lift, try the one on the right for a higher viewpoint. You’ll have a beautiful time too :)
